During my pregnancy and arrival of our son, good nutrition became even more essential, especially when it soon became apparent that he had eczema. I began to look into our diet and nutrition to find some answers.
This led me to a science foundation course, followed by an intensive 3 years excellent degree course at the Centre of Nutritional Education (C.N.E) in Wokingham run by the well-known and respected Kate Neil. The C.N.E is affiliated to Middlesex University and provided a wealth of top-class lecturers and a vast amount of knowledge in nutrition.
I then graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Nutritional Therapy and a Practitioner of Neurolinguistic Programming (N.L.P) in life coaching. These 2 major skills work together in enhancing consultations with clients, giving presentations and workshops.
The science of nutrition again proved helpful for our son when digestive and then behavioural problems occurred. He became increasingly agitated at pre-school, was very excitable, aggressive, complained of tummy aches and had diarrhoea. With nutritional help his problems have been addressed with biochemical tests, followed with dietary changes and supplementation. He was found to be gluten and lactose intolerant and is now more settled at school, has a very bright mind, is good at sports and is full of fun, energy and vitality.
My son's blossoming health and improved schoolwork and my personal relief from health problems I had from my late teens, have compelled me to help show others how to take charge of their own health. I now work from home at Puxey Farm giving one-to one consultations with clients on a range of health concerns like 'allergies', cancer, children's conditions (like A.D.H.D), hormonal problems, I.B.S, migraines and weight problems etc.
One of my main aims is to promote healthy eating and sound nutrition amongst children and adolescents to help in the prevention of later common disease such as diabetes, C.V.D (cardio vascular disease), strokes, obesity and cancer. I do this by giving presentations to groups or taking workshops from home and elsewhere. By having good nutrition and making positive changes to our lifestyles it is possible to become energetic, flourish and maintain a happy outlook.
What next ?
Consultations - One to one consultation for specific health concerns. A detailed questionnaire is completed, sent to Nici prior to the 1st visit and an appointment made to visit Nici at Puxey Farm. It is possible to arrange home visits where necessary.
Workshops - An ideal way to find out more information about a specific topic ie weight-loss, P.M.S, child health, pre-conceptual advice etc. These can be arranged for a group of 5-6 people providing an informal and enjoyable, fun-packed 3 hours and include a healthy lunch. They are held at Puxey Farm. Larger groups may also be arranged at a convenient location.
Presentations - An ideal way to learn about nutrition for larger groups using powerpoint. Most health subjects can be covered with interaction of the audience encouraged. Presentations are held at a convenient location ie schools, offices or halls etc.
